Arch Manning is coming to Texas

And we had a hand in it.

The Hook

Okay we won’t pretend that Arch Manning made his decision based on one night alone. But when it came to getting the attention of the No.2 pick of all recruits, the Longhorns held nothing back.

According to TheAthletic.com, Texas spent nearly $280,000 for the mid-June weekend that won a verbal commitment from Arch Manning.

And we were there.

A Quarter Million Dollar Weekend

“Manning rarely speaks publicly about his recruitment. But through records, itineraries, interviews with other attendees and social media posts, here’s an inside look at the recruits’ whirlwind weekend.”

Visitors stayed at the Four Seasons Austin overlooking Lady Bird Lake.

A lunch spread was served when they arrived with everything from a soft pretzel bar to a quesadilla station.

Personalized UT Longhorn themed cakes awaited the recruits in their rooms.

Plus candy, snacks, and personal requests.

And that was all before they stepped foot on campus.

Break out the Ice

When you’re entertaining the top recruits in the nation, you want to impart what the school has to offer and the city. The culture. The charm. Naturally, that’s where we came in.

The recruits arrived at DKR Stadium to meet the coach, hear the pitch and snap some photos. Staff reported they received the “Texas total package” with a presentation that covered every aspect of the school’s football program, the UT campus, Austin, life after football and more.

Finally, dinner was served.

A dinner buffet spread across the club area on the eighth floor of DKR for a guest list that hit triple digits between coaching staff, spouses, recruiting staff, and visitors.

Even with food, cocktails, beer, wine, flatware rental, and bartenders…the final touch – a Longhorn-themed, football-shaped ice sculpture.

Making a Statement

But the Longhorns were just getting warmed up.

Parents and staff mingled at a social hosted at the J.W. Marriott.

Breakfast was served at the UT Club.

A little R&R was enjoyed at Top Golf.

The group got their fill at III Forks, including 46 7-ounce lobsters and 34 ribeyes!

They saw the best of Lady Bird Lake on a boat cruise stocked with Amy’s Ice Cream.

Three days after Manning returned home from Austin, he called 3-star tight end Will Randle, to inform him they would continue to be teammates. A single tweet later, he let the world know.

Making it Memorable

“The parents who spoke to The Athletic lauded the amenities and top-notch treatment they received.” They did stress the importance of the relationships, which was critical in Manning’s case.

“It was definitely a five-star visit,” Chris Pilot said.

“But the hospitality didn’t hurt.”

…It never does.
